Tax Supervisor, CPA (Full-Time, Remote, USA)

Gelt is a tech-driven tax company providing premium tax solutions for closely-held businesses, HNWI, and investors. Our goal is to optimize our clients’ taxes and ensure their compliance by utilizing our proprietary technology platform and team of expert in-house tax professionals.
You will
- Team Leader: Serve as a team leader for 2–4 tax associates, addressing and resolving inquiries, managing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly workflows, assisting with drafting client emails, fostering client relationships, and providing guidance on complex client scenarios to assist with tax return preparation.
- Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their tax situation, offer advice, and ensure satisfaction. Meetings will occur more frequently during tax season to review returns.
- Review and Quality Control: Examine intricate tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal tax positions before filing.
- Research and Analysis: Delve into complex tax topics, stay updated with the latest regulations, and provide authoritative advice on nuanced subjects.
- Continued Education: Stay current with the ever-evolving tax landscape, including rulings, legislation, and best practices.
- Documentation: Document research findings, create internal best practices, and assist in developing training materials for the broader team.
We are looking for someone who has
- 7+ years of work experience with S-Corporations (1120S), partnerships (1065), and individuals (1040) — mainly in professional services, technology, real estate, and financial services industries
- 2+ years of experience managing a small team of tax preparers
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation
- A CPA, EA, or tax attorney credential
- Strong knowledge of direct tax law
- Ability to simplify and optimize complex processes
- Enthusiasm for a fast-paced startup environment
- Nice to have: Experience with corporations (1120), estate planning and trusts, gifts
- Nice to have: Private equity and venture capital (funds) experience
